The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) have quite a few Family History Centres (FHC) around the British Isles

They have the largest data base of films, fiche and computer records on CD-ROM relating to genealogy. Their Family Search programme which consists of Ancestoral File, The IGI, and The Genealocical Library Catalogue, is now searchable On-line and can be found at the following URL

There is no charge to look at the records they hold at the individual FHC, but a small charge is made if they have to obtain the relevant records from Salt Lake City USA.

However since I have been using them I always donate a small sum each visit, that goes to maintaining their fiche and film readers.

They will make you most welcome and in my experience will NOT preach or try to convert you.
