The funeral took place last Thursday of Mr. Thomas Frederick Buttress, aged 79 years, of 9 School Drive Oakamoor, who died on March 1 at the City General Hospital.

Mr. Buttress had spent all his life in Oakamoor and had been employed at Thomas Boulton and Son Ltd., Froghall until retirement age.

For many years he was keenly interested in gardening and his great love of caring for his pigeons.  He was a member of the Old Age Pensioners Association.

He leaves a wife and one daughter.  The service at the Memorial Free Church was conducted by the Rev L Fountain, with Mr. P Redfern at the organ.  Interment followed in the churchyard.

Family mourners were: Mrs. M Buttress, wife was unable to attend; Miss M Kalbor, daughter; Miss V Buttress, sister; Mrs. P Bearcroft, niece; Mrs. B Walker representing Mr. B Walker , great niece.

Friends in church were: Mrs. M Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. R Cope, Mrs. J Whieldon, Mrs. D Barks representing Mr. F Bryan, Mr. C Mosley, Mr. R Mosley, Mr. B Collier, Mrs. D Mellor, Mr. W H Cope Mrs. F Dresel representing Oakamoor Old Age Pensioners Association, Mrs. B Harvey, Mrs. L Fountain, Mr. W Martin, Mr. J Swinscoe, Mr. G Harvey, Mrs. N Woodward, Mrs. P Beardmore representing Mr. T Beardmore, Mrs. E James representing Mr. E James.
